Director of Elections Qualifies Dave Tarter’s Candidacy
Mayor and City Council Member, David Tarter, announced that his candidacy for the Falls Church City Council has been qualified by the Director of Elections.
In making the announcement, Tarter said, “I am honored to have had the privilege of serving the Falls Church community as Mayor and City Council Member over the past years. I am pleased with the progress the City has made during my time in office, but much more work remains to be done. ”
Tarter commented, “ Falls Church is a community that I love. It is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. I hope that my work over the past four years has justified the citizens’ trust and that the voters will allow me the privilege to continue to represent them for another term. I look forward to discussing the issues that are important to our community.”
Tarter is a native of Northern Virginia. Prior to his time on Council, he was Chair of the Falls Church Economic Development Authority and Interim City Attorney. He is a commercial real estate attorney, with substantial experience with smart, transit oriented development.
In addition to his other duties as Mayor, Tarter represents the City’s interests regionally as a Board Member of the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments, where he was recently elected its Vice President, and the Northern Virginia Regional Commission.
He lives on Little Falls Street with his wife, Karen, the Clinic Aide at Mt. Daniel School, and his three children, Cole, Anna, and David, who attend Falls Church Public Schools.
