First of all, I would like to thank the citizens and City Council of Falls Church for giving me the opportunity to serve you. I am honored and humbled by the confidence placed in me. As Mayor, I am but one of seven members on the Council, nonetheless, I appreciate the opportunity to share my thoughts about the coming year.
We are emerging from tough economic times, and have many challenges before us.
These challenges include maintaining the excellence of our schools in an era of explosive enrollment growth, among the highest growth in the region. Years of austerity have led to pent-up demand for capital improvements for the schools, the library, City Hall and other facilities. We must find ways to satisfy this demand while continuing to provide high quality core services to our community.

Sierra Club Endorses Dave Tarter for Falls Church City Council
/in News /by StaffThe Sierra Club announced today that it is endorsing the candidacy of Falls Church Mayor and local commercial real estate lawyer P. David “Dave” Tarter for Falls Church City Council.
In endorsing Tarter, the Sierra Club praised his “solid understanding of the value of smart growth, bicycling/walking/transit options, and use of LEED in commercial developments.”

You would be hard pressed to find anyone more enthusiastic and optimistic about the future of the City of Falls Church than her current mayor, David Tarter.
Even though he’s charted an independent course during his first four years on the Council, including the last two as mayor, he was unreserved in this enthusiasm for the Little City and its prospects in what has become a Falls Church tradition – the annual late summer “State of the City” interview with the mayor conducted by the Falls Church News-Press.

Director of Elections Qualifies Dave Tarter’s Candidacy

Tarter, Shields Meet McAuliffe in Richmond

Mayor David Tarter, City Manager Wyatt Shields, and Economic Development Director Rick Goff met with Governor Terry McAuliffe at the Executive Mansion in Richmond last week. They were invited to participate in discussions focused on economic development along with representatives from other Northern Virginia cities and counties Topics discussed with the Governor included the impact of federal budget sequestration, regional transportation issues, Inova Health System’s acquisition of the Exxon Mobil Corp. headquarters in Merrifield, and ways to work together to expand our region’s tax base and create new jobs.

Mayor Says F.C. ‘Up to the Challenge’ For Growth Needed to Support Schools

City of Falls Church Starts New Year with New Mayor

The City of Falls Church City Council elected council member David Tarter as mayor, and council member David Snyder as vice mayor Monday night at its special meeting. Snyder has previously served as mayor and vice mayor.
